Hey everone, good news today! Josh's family agreed to give him his share of the inheritance without involving the court. I was surprised, I thought they'd put up a fight. So, soon he'll have 15K to start his antique business and to pay expenses without having to withdraw money from his Poker account. Yay!
I won't have to pay bills or the food alone, but our deal still stands regarding him doing all the house chores and me paying for his bank loan (120 euros a month). This will only stand until the business kicks off and he's able to pay for everything he's due. And it's also for him to get used to having the money. I don't know. Actually I don't know why he doesn't start paying for everything on his own right now, but I think it's because he needs that crutch (me) to feel safe. I guess it won't kill me to help him make a smooth transition into independency/adulthood. Yes, I know how this sounds.
Anyway these are the news, I'm happy but also a little scared about the future. What if he decides to spend more than he should at the tables? What if the business doesn't prosper? What if these 15K act like a band-aid in a gun-shot wound? Letting him keep up with a lazy lifestyle for another 2 years or so, and ruining my dreams in the process? Yep, those are my concerns.
But, as usual, I'm taking a leap of faith and hope for the best. It's his call, his responsibility. I'll stick around, while I can.
xoxo
Andrea

ReplyDeleteAndrea use the 15K wisely, 15K is not that much money.
ReplyDeleteHmm I won't have much control over it, part of my treatment involves letting go of my responsibility towards Josh's life and letting him live with the consequences of his own choices. I do hope he uses the money wizely though...
Deletehopefully it works out, girl. 15k is a good start. idk much about the market. i would just b worried about put it all on 1 thing. i think it is hilarious that he thinks he is too good to work at a job. it would b good 4 him to have something on the side to supplement this business.imo. personally,i wouldnt of gave him the money( or mayb in installments). just doesnt seem he appriacates(p.s. i cant spell) ANYTHING. but it is yr life. LOL. and no that isnt me in the photo. i just chose that avatar bcuz i was banned twice from RTP bcuz of posts. my posts r too lighthearted 4 a serious website like RTP were the topics of conversation on TBC's sockroll and the missing Malaysia flight need the critical thinking that is on the same level of solving U.S immigration/health care problems or global warming.

ReplyDeleteSo he's getting $15k and you still have to pay his bank loan for him? Holy shittttttttt
ReplyDeleteYou are officially the biggest push over door mat alive. This blog is 100% a level at this point, because NO ONE can be this stupid.
I've read enough. Josh doesn't have a clue about one of the most critical factors when it comes to a poker career. Bankroll and money management.
ReplyDeleteTo win at poker there are four things one must possess.
- Knowledge of the game and knowing how to consistently win.
- A sufficient bankroll to carry you through the ups and downs and fluctuations of the game.
- Good Money Management. Playing strictly within the stakes and parameters as dictated by your bankroll size, and comfort level, that will keep you in the game without risk of ruin and hopefully watching it increase in value allowing you to play at higher stakes.
- Discipline to follow all the rules and conditions of the previous needs. The ability to execute the strategy.
It all adds up to commitment. You must make a commitment in time and effort to be successful. To me, it sounds like he's short on all four.
Why is he blowing off his bankroll in a matter of a few weeks? He should NOT be moving up in stakes until he's shown he can be successful at the stakes he's playing in. How do you do that? By building his current bankroll to a comfortable enough level to move up. IF he falls back down to a lower stakes evel, thn he moves down in stakes. It's simple math, but VERY important to understand. It can set the bar to avoid "Risk of Ruin."
I HIGHLY recommend he picks up a copy of Mark Blade's book " Professional Poker: The Essential Guide to Playing For a Living." He shoud also spend an afternoon reading online this subject by Googling "Poker Bankroll Money Management" and the like.
If he says he's already familiar with the subject then he clearly is ignoring this critical factor.
Frankly with what you've given us here in your posts, it seems to me Josh is a guy you should have entirely removed from your life years ago, but yet you continue to put up with his myriad of abuses.
Poker is not really the problem. Nor is Josh frankly. Time to take a long, hard introspective look at yourself.
I wish you the best.
Yes I agree he has poor managing skills. He should immediately go back to lower stakes when he sees he's lost the necessary bankroll to keep playing at those stakes comfortably. But he rarely listens to me.
DeleteWhy would he? He knows he can do whatever he wants and you will always bail him out when he fails.
DeleteI forgot to add.
ReplyDeleteYour blog title is misleading, to say the least. Josh is not your husband, nor is his behavior, or his results, "professional" by any stretch of the imagination. He's a wannabe, that has shown over the years he's very unlikely to ever be anything more than that in the real world of poker.
I wish him the best in his oither pursuits.
As I said many times before, Josh isn't my legal husband but we've lived together for over 3 years so we could be legally married if we chose to. And "professional" is between quotes for a reason.
DeleteYou won't ever be legally married because he knows he doesn't need to marry you, ever, and you will still do whatever he wants whenever he tells you to do it.
DeleteBeing married to a poker player, its a real challenge! The guy can spend a whole day sticked to the computer withouth eating, drinking or even going to the bathroom! At first, I consider it kind extreme, but now I have tried to get their passion, and moreover when you get how is their real life http://www.titanpoker.com/the-real-life-of-a-professional-poker-player.html
ReplyDeleteThank you Allessandra, that was interesting to read! How do you handle the finantial insecurity and social pressure of living with a poker player?
DeleteThank for the good topic,Thanks for your sharing.
